Remco products

We were at FMCA rally in St paul this week and stopped at the Remco booth. Mentioned I would like to tow a Honda or Acura product and was told flat out all of their automatics to date can be pulled 4 down without problem or pumps added. Now that goes against all Honda recomendations, they also said you could buy their insurance plan and they would guarantee your transmission if it ever burned up. That goes against the advice they sent me via e mail asking the same question a month ago. What's with these people?

RE: help no water at hot water

Start at the begining. Pop the relief valve at the water heater, do you get water out of the relief?Assuming you do go to the first accessible connection fron the hot side of the tank and with the pump off or the city water turned off open the connection and turn the pump or city water on,do you get water there? follow along the hot delivery Somewhere along the common side of the hot delivery before it makes it's first "t" you will find a stoppage.

RE: Allegro bus driving experience

A follow up on test drive. Drove an 05 American Coach tradition, 40 foot 3 slides 20k miles. Handled good, more roll than a tag model 42 foot but better than my 98 beaver. Quieter and rattle free. Looks like my search is narrowed down to an American Coach.

Allegro bus driving experience

We were at FMCA convention in MN yesterday looking at coaches. Liked the layout and the apparent quality of the Allegro Bus, The dealer had an 07 allegro bus 40 feet quad slide that was the grandfathers coach with 24k miles loaded for sale . We took it for a test drive and were very disappointed. The coach rolled side to side around turns and going out the parking lot. Going over expansion joints came through as loud and harsh noises. Rattles were everywhere. Is this typical?? We liked the coach but the driving experience left us very disapointed. We have had 3 gas and 2 dp coaches, the latest being a 98 Beaver so we are experienced in how things work and expected more from a newer coach. We would like to keeep Allegro on the short list for future coaches but are concerned about the durability.

Said goodbye to Chopper

We said goodbye to our 13 year old spaniel mix yesterday. We adopted Chopper 11 years ago from Second chance rescue in Minnesota and were only going to foster care him for a couple monthe while he was neutered and treated for heartworm. We did that and found a nice home with a couple small kids . Two months later we get a call from the adopting family saying they can't keep him because he is destroying the house when they are at work. We took him back. His separation anxiety is huge, and his fear of thunderstorms hard on all of us. We delt with his seperation anxiety as best we could, going to the extent of getting an old station wagon and making up a bed where he could wait for us while we were at work but be protected from the elements. He kept the yard clear of any invading rabbits, coyote's and racoons even when we welcomed their visits. As he got older arthritis took hold of his joints to where he was on some pretty strong drugs to control the pain. He didn't have the stamina he once had but the vet assured us he was just getting old. We took him for a ride in our old convertible and after being afraid for a couple miles really liked the open air. Stopped at a lake and found out he loved water and swiming. Fro the last two years of his life we made a point of going for top down rides and always finding a place for him to swim. This last Saturday we took him to the dog park nearby where he could socialize and swim and what a great time he had. Sunday it was off to the river where he waded in and was enjoying the water till a boat wake knocked him down and he couldn;'t get up. We got him out of the water and home where he got an extra dose of meds to help with the pain. His back legs could no longer support him. We let him rest the rest of the day, helping him get outside that nite by supporting his back end. Monday morning he still couldn't move and had vomited up supper from Sunday. By Monday late afternoon when my wife came home and he was no better, he just looked at us with that "look"we made the hardest decision of his life and took him for one last ride. We held his head and scratched his ear as the injection took effect. I layed his head down gently and said goodbye. We hope there is a dog heaven where he can chase rabbits, go for car rides and swim all day and maybe someday we can all meet again in a better place where there is no pain or getting older. He was the most frustrating dog I've ever owned ald I miss him like crazy.

RE: lightening struck

Had same thing happen a couple years ago while the Rv sat in the driveway hooked up to shore power. Called insurance and they got me in to a garage where things were gone thru. Took out alternator, fridge, stereo, main 250 amp fuse, sat control, solar controller and I forget what else. A real pain. Lucky me had just recently increased deductible to "save money".

CAT hesitates

I have an 98 Beaver Patriot with a 3126 Cat motor. After every fillup {usually half tank level} I restart and get about 1 minute down the road and the motor hesitates, the warning lights and bells come on.this lasts about 2 heart stopping seconds then all is wel land it settles right down and runs fine till the next fillup. I've owned this coach for five years and all the maintenance is current. Coach has 48k miles. Any ideas. Thanks

RE: After leak, how best to get rid of "musty" smell???

I've worked on mobile homes for years and they have a lot of leaks and "musty" smells after. Open up the affected area as best you can and spray all surfaces with a dilute bleach solution. Let dry and paint any surfaces you can get at with a primer/sealer. You may want to replace any affected insulation with new.

RE: Engine won't turn over after replacing chasis batteries

Happened to me, forgot/missed connecting that little wire with the doughnut connector on it. Might want to crawl under and check voltage at the starter while cranking.

RE: hot water heater wont shut off?

Do you have hot water, the normal temp? Look and see if you have any water coming out of the relief valve pipe as that would indicate an overheating / temp sensor issue. If the hot water is of a normal temp look at the burner flame and see if it looks normal. If the water is normal temp the burner is probably not operating normally, the main jet could be partially blocked. If the water is exceptionally hot the relief valve should open and relieve pressure, it may not reseal after doing that and need replacement. Got any water leaks?

RE: furnace blower won't shut off

Look on schematic for the low limit switch that controls when the fan shuts off. Might be part of the mother board or a seperate wafer switch.

RE: Advice on SeaTech vs. Shark Bite plumbing fittings

Being a mobile home repair guy I see a lot of pex. I use flair it fittings at half the cost, the only thing is you need to warm up the pipe end to push it on the barb easily then they are good to go. Get mine at mobile home supply or local Ace hardware.

RE: Wall St. Journal article on Rv makers,

I've got to agree, we have brought this on ourselves. Americans still think the world revolves around them and that we can continue to monopolize the worlds resources. Bigger is better, right? Companies come and go as with any business cycle, and the weak ones are forced out while the inovators and the carefuil ones that didn't over expand when times were good will live to fight another day. I drive a Dp , but it is one of the smaller ones and drive conservatively. I'm looking into the future and thinking of what form my next RV will take, at this point I don't know. 8 MPG is gonna get real old and expensive, but I still want the room. Any innovators out there? The times they are a changing. The europeans are even offering americans deals because the dollar is so weak. This country always got things done when it had to, I think this could be an opportunity to prove we still have it.

RE: Yes you, the Vectra Owner! (and others too)

I've never understood how some people can be so inconsiderate of others. Whether you are driving an RV or car or pedaling a bike on a public road. Look behind you and if you start to back up more than a couple cars, pull over and let them by. You will enjoy your ride and so will they. And for Pete's sake don't travel slow in rush hours.

RE: leaking shower faucet

Been a mobile home repair guy forever and this sounds familiar. It's either a bad o ring where the valve screws into the faucet body or a cracked faucet body. You should be able to remove both handles and remove body cover to see what's going on . on an older guy like this I'm leaning towards replacing itregardless of problem.

I'm looking to install some kind of suplimental brake on an older Honda. Have a DP with air brakes. Want something simple to install that isn't a pain to unhook when driving the dingy. Anyone using that SMI air force one? Hard to install? thanks

Did it on my 95 Pace and loved it. You have more room to move chairs around and get comfortable. Also laid Pergo style flooring over the vinyl.

RE: I guess I CAN drive 55.

I've always driven my 37 foot 330 cat at 55 to 60 and gotten about 9 mpg. Always looked out for me backing up traffic and if it got to be 3 or more pulled over and let them by. Got spoiled driving in Canada on 2 lane roads where it was the norm for slower traffic to use the shoulder to let faster people by. The little extra in time it takes to reach a destination isn't worth the extra fuel cost and anxiety.

RE: Mac Owners

I'm in the process of switching to Apple and am wondering about iMac vs Macbook. How much moving around with temp and environmental changes will a iMac take vs Macbook. I know a Macbook can support a larger monitor so screen size isn't an issue when used on a table. Are there any other issues an iMac will have when used both on the road and at home vs Macbook? thanks
